Jerry Spinelli

  • Born on February 1, 1941 in Norristown, Pennsylvania
  • First wanted to be a writer at 16
  • First started writing for adults, but none of his books were published.

  • Decided to change his writing for children when one of his six kids ate a piece of fried chicken. This turned into his first published book, Space Station 7th Grade.
  • Graduated Gettysburg College and earned his MA from John Hopkins University.
  • Married Wife Eilean in 1977
